Haines Manuka Honey is produced in New Zealand. Manuka Honey is well known for its antimicrobial properties and is a natural remedy for many ailments. Haines honey comes from the remote Northland region in New Zealand. Founded in 1949 William (Bill) Haines, a New Zealand honey pioneer who established his hives in the thickly covered Manuka heath ranges.
Northland is a forested, subtropical region on New Zealand's North Island, framed by the Pacific Ocean and Tasman Sea. The Bay of Islands is studded with sheltered beaches, wineries, and colonial-era towns like Russell.
It’s also home to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, a historic Maori site. Famed for its sandboarding dunes, Ninety Mile Beach stretches along the west coast toward Cape Reinga.
In the mid-2000's, the research and findings conducted by another great New Zealand honey pioneer, Professor Peter Molan, shone a light on the unique medicinal qualities found in Manuka honey. As a result, Molan established the Unique Manuka Facto (UMF) which is used as a key identifier as to the content of New Zealand-made active in honey products to this day.
Haines is a UMFHA member which is the New Zealand Authority for the certification of authentic Manuka Honey.
