Our Kiwis & Haines Honipai honey comes from Kaitaia – in the remote forested, subtropical Northland region in the far north of New Zealand framed by the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. Kiwis & Haines Honipai beehives are spread along the coastline from ninety Mile Beach to Cape Reinga.

Haines Apiaries was established in 1949 by William (Bill) Haines when he bought native bushland covered in Mānuka bush in Kaitaia, Bill was one of the original Manuka Honey pioneers, he and his family helped set up the UMF (NZ Manuka Honey Rating system).

Bill's son Malcolm Haines, who was 4 years old when his dad got his first beehive, took over the business from his father. To help grow the business, Malcolm teamed up with local apiarist Bruce Robertson, to form Kiwis & Haines Honipai honey.

Bruce’s family now own and manages the apiary, lives onsite with his family, in the original Haines family home. Bruce and his team proudly continue the Haines family tradition of producing some of New Zealand’s best Manuka Honey.
